Aurelia Vișinescu, co-owner, and winemaker at Domeniile Săhăteni has over 30-year experience in the wine industry. In love with nature, and initially attracted to cultivating flowers, Aurelia Vișinescu chose to study enology during the years of attending the University of Agronomic Sciences in Bucharest, Romania, being fascinated by wine science. She was the first to vinify Fetească Neagră, a regional variety native to Romania, as a dry wine, which later became Romania’s most famous grape variety.Aurelia is the most well-known women oenologist in Romania. Her wines have won valuable medals and recognitions over the years at prestigious International Wine Competitions.

“A single glass of wine can reveal more than a story. My winemaking history begins with the love of nature. When you nourish love, passion, and respect for the vineyard, you can bring out the very best in the vines which will be then reflected in the glass. This love carried me to the New World, where winemaking was undertaken with innovation and the latest scientific research. During the almost 30 years that have passed since I finished wine school, I have focused my education on chemistry and microbiology with a particular emphasis on taste and smell ––the vital elements for the creation of excellent wines. Over the years, my passion for wine has grown, along with my recurrent dream that I would cultivate my own vineyard one day. That day has arrived, and my dream has become a reality. At Domeniile Săhăteni, I rely on people who have dedicated their lives to working in the vineyards. Here we make wine for those like us, who skillfully do their job with rigor and passion, people who know their goals. We don’t fabricate a perfect, sweet story without foundation or claim to have the secret knowledge of wine. Wonderful wine depends on the grace of nature but develops thanks to the skill and passion of the viticulturists and winemakers. Wine is what we offer you at our best, every year, from our cellar. This is my belief, and it can be found in every bottle of wine I make.”- Aurelia Vișinescu, Domeniile Săhăteni
