Our Story

Cotnari Wine House has its roots in ancient Romanian times, when the reputation of the indigenous varieties  of wine made  their way to the rulers and competed for space on the large boyar (aristocrat) tables.

The emblem of the Cotnari Wine House captures Vlădoianu Castle, built in 1901 by Vlădoianu himself, a former governor of the National Bank of Romania and distinguished winegrower. The castle served as Vlădoinau residence during the Belle Époque, bringing together over a century of memories and wine stories.

Today, the castle houses The Cotnari House of Wines and continues the century old trade and story – the story about the art and craft of winemaking, about success, and about Romania.

At Cotnari Wine House, we appreciates vineyards and give life to wines. We ennoble each grape by creating the perfect wine collections: IRIS,  COTNARI DOMENII,  COLOCVIU,  and CASTEL VLĂDOIANU.

Cotnari vineyard is situated in the Eastern part of Romania, in the Moldova Plateau. It is one of the Eastern Europe’s most famous vineyards.
